PARKLIFE COUNTDOWN - 29 DAYS!
Swans swamp Roos with superb 2nd half
By Michael Rogers 10:16 PM Sat 06 September, 2008

Ted Richards attempts to spoil North's Aaron Edwards at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.
A SENSATIONAL eight-goal third term has propelled the Sydney Swans into the second week of the finals after a 35- point win against North Melbourne at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.
The Kangaroos led by 10 points at half time, but Barry Hall and Brett Kirk led an inspired fightback by the home side to set up the 17.8 (110) to 11.9 (75) victory in front of a disappointing crowd of 19,127.
Hall finished with three goals, as did Kieren Jack and Adam Goodes, while Kirk, Amon Buchanan and Jarrad McVeigh were productive through the midfield.
Brent Harvey was sensational early for the Roos, finishing with 19 possessions and two goals and Daniel Harris worked tirelessly in the clinches.
The Swans will now play the Western Bulldogs in Friday night's first semi-final, as the Kangaroos – top-four fancies just a fortnight ago – will rue an opportunity lost.
The Swans made a mockery of their lacklustre first half with a blistering start to the third quarter.
Goals to Hall (twice), Goodes and McVeigh turned that deficit into a 13-point lead and the diehard Swans fans burst into voice.
A clever snap from Roos spearhead Nathan Thompson briefly silenced them, but they roared again when smart young forward Patrick Veszpremi was first to a loose ball in the goal square.
Hall was pivotal in the Swans' sixth goal of the term, beating two North opponents at centre half-forward and feeding Jack, who ran in to kick his second major of the night.
Despite the home side's momentum, the Roos refused to be cowed and Ed Lower hit back with two goals in as many minutes to cut the Swans' lead to seven points.
Malceski dragged one of those back and when no North Melbourne player stood the mark after an errant kick flew out of the full, Goodes pounced for his second – and the Swans' eighth – of the term.
In keeping with the game's see-sawing nature, David Hale kicked truly after the siren to leave the Swans 14 points up at the last change.
Lower looked set to close the gap even further early in the last, but his shot from 30m hit the post.
As so often happens, the Swans made him pay in the very next passage as Hall booted his third after beating Josh Gibson one on one.
The rest of the quarter turned into a procession for the Swans as they started slotting them from everywhere.
It was arguable whether Jack or Ted Richards sealed the win, but the result was beyond doubt when Moore ran into an open goal to the unbridled joy of the red and white faithful.
Such a comprehensive win seemed a long way off when North started the game with an intensity missing in last week's unexpected loss to Port Adelaide
The Roos' booted four unanswered goals in the first 20 minutes, two of those coming from Harvey's boot.
It took the experience and clean hands of Ryan O'Keefe to finally open the Swans' account after 26 minutes, kicking truly after a grab that belied the slippery conditions.
Had Goodes and Hall converted late chances, North Melbourne's 14-point quarter-time lead could have been less than a goal.
Those missed opportunities were soon forgotten as Jack cut North's lead to eight points inside the first two minutes of the second term.
Matt Campbell and Thompson spurned chances at the other end, and O'Keefe made the Roos pay by slotting his second after another towering grab.
Both teams ratcheted up the pressure as the contest tightened and it was veteran Roos forward Shannon Grant who broke the stalemate, striking twice in a minute to put North 16 points up.
That was as good it got for the Kangaroos; a late goal to Moore cut their lead to 10 points and heralded the start of the Swans' incredible second-half onslaught.

PARKLIFE COUNTDOWN - 31 DAYS
I’ve been a little slow on the uptake, I’ll admit that.
Only because it has been a month and a half since Batman: The Dark Knight craze
hit all of us & I only JUST sat myself down to finally wrap my head around
to understanding the whole Dark Knight craze. Now let me FINALLY say:
WHY SO SERIOUS?
I told you I’m a little slow on the uptake (okay, little
might be a bit of an understatement really. But can you blame me? I had parties
to attend, people to see & exams to be studied for.)
But as a result of this movie, I
realised how bloody awesome Heath Ledger really was. I always idolised him as
an actor & knew he was good at what he did, but since watching The Dark
Knight, I am saddened all over again by his sudden passing earlier this year.
Speaking of watching movies, I
watched The Mummy 3 last night. I expected a lot more from the third Mummy
instalment; maybe because I absolutely loved the first two. Of course, the
failure of this movie doesn’t exceed the EPIC failures of The Happening or The
Mist. There was no need for idiots running around like headless chickens in
fear of something that was totally unrealistic. And don’t tell me that bringing
terracotta warriors & an ancient Chinese emperor back to life is as
unrealistic as a military operation involving killer bugs & an on land
octopus high on crack.
Speaking of being high; I watched
Harold & Kumar escape Guantanamo Bay last night. I was in a fit of laughter
for nearly the entire movie. Apart from the awkward moments where half naked
women were prancing around showing off their moot, I was happy I watched this
movie!
Apart from The Mummy 3, Harold
& Kumar and (finally) The Dark Knight, I FINALLY WATCHED THE FIRST TWO EP’S
OF PRISON BREAK SEASON FOUR! I was beginning to get worried that it wouldn’t
live up to it’s season three cliff-hanger ending & ultimately fail because
new seasons seem to do that, but not with Prison Break. After being a loyal
watcher from season one episode one, I still find that Wentworth Miller can
tickle my pickle any day.
Other than watching a number of
films and TV series’, I’ve been hard at work with my economics notes for the
upcoming mid semester exam in 5 days. Although I may seem prepared, I have a
problem remembering the many theories and graph analysis’s this darn subject has.
But on the flipside, you all remember me bitching about not purchasing MGMT
tickets in time? Then I announced a few entries ago that tickets are going back
on sale for Hordern Pavilion? Well, I GOT TICKETS! Yes, that’s right, I, LIANA
TAT, GOT HER MGMT TICKETS TODAY! I have to extend many, many thanks to Julianna
for surprising me early this morning with a phone call. Both Juls & Chey
were in on it, I love my girls.
I forgot to mention my great love
for Spring in my previous entry. It’s not too hot, not too cold & just
perfect for the nights out. But of course, this comes at a cost. I expect to be
eaten alive by those darn mosquitos. I’m anxiously waiting summer already.
Bring on the beach!
This entry really isn’t here for
much purpose. I just wanted to live up to my word of not mentioning someone
& I am sure to mention them tomorrow after the game. I do have pictures
from last Saturday from Anna’s camera. So here they are!

Steven think's he's so butch!

Felicia & Anna, never ready

ze girls, ready this time.

ze girls again!

& Felicia

Groupie shot!
P.S. Pay up bitches ;)

PARKLIFE COUNTDOWN - 32 DAYS
I have a secret love for rainy days. The idea of curling up
under a blanket, sporting a mug of hot chocolate in one hand and a good novel
in the other seem to float my boat some times. Call me old fashioned if you must, but I
couldn’t think of a better way to spend a rainy day. So it’s only natural to
guess what I did on Sunday afternoon when the weather was dreary as ever &
I had no plans.
I spent yesterday studying & catching up on my
economics notes that I have fallen terribly behind with. Ventured to Uni an
hour earlier than I was supposed to & downloaded notes. Chatted away on MSN
before & during my lecture with Shaun, Alfred & Christina. Only goes to
show how much work I managed to get done yesterday before I realised it was 8PM
and class was over!
Today (or yesterday should I say, seeing as the clock just
ticked over to 12AM) was when my lazy genes kicked in & I ventured off to
the city with my AFL boys + Catherine. Managed to get myself out there by 1PM
& met with Kenny at the night ride stands. Slowly, one by one, Jono,
Catherine & (finally) Shaun arrived! Off to Ticketek to purchase our
prestigious Swans finals home game ticket for Saturday night. We got reasonably
good seats so I am not complaining. However, I’ve had to keep my ticket with
Shaun because knowing me, I’d lose something of that great importance (I have a
knack for losing things). Jono left soon after because he had Uni leaving me
with Kenny, Catherine and Shaun. We walked around the city, shopping &
eventually caught a bite to eat before departing ways!
I’m quite happy to say that I finally saw the first episode
of Season Two of Gossip Girl. The anxious wait was certainly worth it because
my golly was it a great episode. It had me in tears & then in a fit of
laughter; so to say it was a rollercoaster ride would be correct! I am now
waiting for my Prison Break to finish streaming before I indulge in a good dose
of Wentworth Miller.
I was happily reading my mX on the train home today & I
came across an article about So You Think You Can Dance? Of course, such an
article would attract my attention. Auditions are being held on October 9-11
& my willingness to auditions (just out of pure boredom) has now become
nil. There is no way I, of all people, could critique such a vigorous and perfect
routine for the judges in time. I might give Dance a miss this year. There’s
always 2009.
This is all but a bunch of discombobulated mumbo jumbo. I’ll
blog again after Saturday night. Or maybe later this week. Or never again. Who
knows? My time is precious now that Mid Semester exams are around the corner. I
could neglect this blog … more than I already am.
Until next time …
P.S. Kenny & Shaun, Patrick Veszpremi loves ME!

PARKLIFE COUNTDOWN - 35 DAYS
My weekend hasn't seemed to stop for me to rest at all. My dance recital was yesterday morning & with only 3 hours of sleep the night before, I was volatile & run down to say the least. I was pleased with my performance. Jack managed not to drop me like he did in rehearsals & we executed the entire routine, injury free! I got home at 2PM & had to quickly get ready for the AFL. Speaking of which!
Mega hoorah to my AFL buddies. We've managed to cheer our team into the finals; and with such style I might say! Not only that, but we also secured a home final game. Mega, mega hoorah to that! I get to see all you boys at ANOTHER game where I promise not to be all whiney & annoying LOL!
So last night was d-day. It was the last night of normal round AFL & I was quite saddened to say the least. I have had so much fun with my AFL homies: Jono, Jimmy, Catherine, Zico, Kenny & Shaun (with the occasional appearance of Felicia & the odd appearance of Steven & Anna). So after all the ranting & raving about Shaun being late, I managed to be one of the late comers yesterday (only because Steven & Anna were so desperate for Easy Way). Then Shaun made an epic mistake; getting us onto the wrong bus. So we missed most of the first quarter, which was pretty uneventful by the looks of it (score was only 8-9, Brisbane way). Our seats weren't as good as I had hoped they would be, with the 7 of us cramped in the middle of a massive pack of people. Luckily we secured seats under the shelter because within a matter of minutes of arrival, it began to rain; Anna couldn't bear the thought of her hair getting ruined! We lost ourselves in the sea of cheering and chanting for the Sydney Swans & Steven just got lost in cheering. Every minute my rear end would become detached from the seat, his would too; every time I would scream out a name, he would not only scream it out too but mispronounce it (it's VESZ-PREMI, not VEZAPREZI LOLOL!) It was an enjoyable moment & by half time, we had moved to the members section where I experienced a moment of bullying from my homies. They all barricaded me out of their conversations & when I had finally managed to push my way through to the middle, they would disperse in all directions. Steven was all I had left, only because he had no idea what was going on! But it managed to get a good laugh or two out of everyone.
We continued the cheering, chanting, ranting & raving until the end of the game. With a winning margin of 61, I found myself running through the back stands singing, or to be more correct, screaming out the team song (CHEER CHEER THE RED & THE WHITE, HONOR THE…yeah you get it). I ran through the members stands & gave Jono the shock of his life when I jumped on him chanting our song! Then OUR moment came. The moment my entire group was liberated; the moment we all realised where our hearts lie; it was the moment Patrick Veszpremi walked past during out chant (PADDY! PADDY! PADDY!) Although it mightn't sound all that exciting, but he actually laughed & gave us a big wave! Shaun has proof on his camera (I am yet to receive photos from him). According to the member boys, they managed to get a laugh out of Veszpremi twice last night, I am very jealous indeed.
We eventually left & migrated to a small section of the car park for our own game of Let's Watch Shaun Beat the Crapola Out of Everyone When It Comes To Catching The AFL Ball. So if the title doesn't give it away, our late night game of AFL was dominated by Shaun & if not him, it was the boys in general, leaving Felicia, Catherine & I with no choice but to act as the distractions. Eventually the boys gave up & Shaun kicked the ball to JUST the girls. But after Zico's "Is this turning you on?" remark to Jimmy, we headed towards the bus stop to get our fix of food. Off to Superbowl for the night where we ordered quite a bit of food (we racked up a $121 bill by the end of the night). Dinner involved the boys serving the girls, the boys eventually eating the majority of the food & a group photo! It was nearing 12:30AM by now so we all ventured off to Central station to see our departure. Jono caught his bus; Catherine, Zico & Kenny caught their bus; leaving Jimmy, Felicia, Shaun & I to find out if the trains were still operating at this hour. To our greatest luck, they were, but of course all good come at a price; we had to wait a good half an hour.
We sat at Central Station chatting away about Uni, footy & plans for the holidays until the train finally came, where we chatted some more despite being tired beyond all repair. The topics began to land on the awkward side of things when Felicia started talking about urinating in the shower; both Shaun & I laughed at the conversation which is where our input remained. Of course, there comes a time where we must say Sayonarra for the night & that moment came when the train arrived at Lidcombe. Felicia and I said our bye's and gave our hugs & kisses to Shaun & Jimmy. The train was THEN delayed & we didn't arrive at Parramatta until 2AM! Tired would surely fit the description box.
Back to my dance recital; our marks were posted up by 12AM & my friends, anxious as ever to tell me my marks, called me. They were ecstatic to say the least & informed me that I had secured myself a pass at an astonishing mark of 85! My execution topped a 9.5/10 & the only let down I had was my counts, which only scored me a 7. But I got to celebrate it with my Swans homies & they, being the sweethearts that they are, congratulated me.
Enough about my homies. When Shaun, Catherine, Steven & Anna send me photos from last night, I will surely post them up for you all to see. As for now, my Wii Fit as arrived & I am going to get fit! =)
Ciao.
P.S. I suggest EVERYONE go listen to MGMT! I don't care if they warp your mind as Felicia says. THEY ARE THE SHIT OF INDIE MUSIC. Heckwahhh
P.P.S. Here's the rest of the song I was singing last night:
Cheer cheer the red & the white
Honor the name by day and by night
Lift that noble banner high
Shake down the thunder from the skies
Whether the odds be great or small
Swans will go win & win overrall
While her loyal sons are marching
Onwards to VICTORY!!!
P.P.P.S. This is an official proposal to Patrick Veszpremi. Will you marry me Patrick Veszpremi? I think you are a total machine & with an amazing four goals in the one night, who wouldn't love you? (I was one of the psycho Asian's in that "PADDY! PADDY!" chant last night. You are a sex machine ;) reowrrr

PARKLIFE COUNTDOWN - 38 DAYS
MGMT COUNTDOWN - 103 DAYS
ALICIA KEYS COUNTDOWN - 106 DAYS
I deserve a great spanking for taking so long to update everyone with my mundane life. I feel that sometimes, I am beginning to lack my blogging touch. Inspiration is running on a near empty fuel tank & I find myself spending many days on an entry that is worth posting. By the time you reach the end of this entry, I would have deleted the entire blog at least 5-6 times. Maybe because my life has consisted of nothing substantial apart from the tireless days at University & work as well as the occasional girls nights (which have dwindled to small amounts) & parties.
Apart from work & University overriding the last bit of hope I have at having a "good time", I think that I have committed myself too far much more than I can handle. I've got University which demands a good 40 hours (AWAY FROM UNI) study a WEEK, work which has been reasonably nice to me apart from making me feel back in year 12 (which can't be half as bad as Uni), dance which eats at 4 hours of my week & church, which being the devoted Catholic I am, I cannot complain about.
So University is doing a great job at being a total wanker. Demanding everything from weekly essays (marketing), constant studying (economics) and also weekly summaries and a fricking sh*tload of readings (TCS). Not only that, but I rarely see my Uni buds anymore because of our conflicting timetables! I miss seeing Steven, Felicia, Anna, Andrew, Flora, Valerie, Julie and Jimmy nearly every day of the week! Instead, I have been reduced to seeing them only once a week leaving no time for our chit chats & basketball games. Bring back semester one!
Speaking of Uni, we've all had our fair share of blonde moments; every single one of us have slipped up before, saying something completely unreasonable or just blonde! Here are a few I can recall:
Steven's epic fail when it comes to differentiating between beef & pork:
Steven: Isn't beef and pork the same thing? They both come from cow right?
Liana: WHAT?
Andrew: HAHAHAHA!!! Beef is from cow, PORK is from pig.
Anna & Val: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Steven: So all those times I was eating pork rolls from Cabramatta, I was eating PIG?
Liana: YES! What did you think it was? Oh that's right? Cow. LOL!
Andrew: So what do you do when the waiter goes 'Do you want beef or pork with that?'
That was Steven's moment … we all thought that was all he had to offer, but just the other day he whipped up something a little like this:
Steven: What fish is salmon from?
Please, LOL all you want. LOL even more when I hand out the award for "I don't know what animal my food comes from".
Of course, not everyone get's away with not having a blonde moment, with poor Felicia having her first just a couple of days ago with this:
Felicia: I have a McDonalds VIP card! But I haven't used it yet
Val: Why not?
Felicia: You can only use them once!
Steven, Anna, Val & myself: ……………………….. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I thought about publically posting mine here too, but I have had too many to recall & with epic failure's such as those aforementioned, I wouldn't stand a chance at competing.
OKAY I JUST RECEIVED THE MOST EXCITING NEWS OF TODAY (to me)
ARE YOU READY?
MGMT CONCERT HAS BEEN MOVED TO HORDEN PAVILLION
MEANING! TICKETS GO ON SALE AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 5th! MEANING! I HAVE A SECOND CHANCE AT GETTING TICKETS! LIFE IS EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, back onto a topic that has been brewing in my mind for the past couple of days. We have all burnt bridges in the past; some more severely than others. Leaving nothing but flickering embers that we, being the arsonist in this very situation, must put out to erase all traces of evidence. Burning a bridge can take many metaphorical paths; some consider it a breaking of a communication & some see it as running away. It would eliminate any chance of turning back. The irrevocable damage is more than enough to taint a once perfect image. I think that's why I burnt the bridge. Some of those closer would know that I had a turbulent start to the New Year and I relied on this bridge for support. Until one day, ridding it was my only option to put my crap '08 start to an end; so May 2008 was the month; tears, tantrums & sleepless nights. No-one knew that 3 months down the track, both sides of the bridge would wave their respective white flags. I guess, we didn't put out those embers & let them burn for the three months. Instead of destroying the evidence, we left things out in the air; waiting to either be aggravated and reignited or doused in water & rebuilt from the ground up.
P.S. I am aware that this blog has limited, if any, structure & substance. I really haven't had a great thought hit me just yet. I am sure something substantial will hit me by tomorrow night. And if it doesn't ... well we'll talk about that IF it were to happen!
P.P.S. That's not the only excuse about my lack of blogging (or blogging touch). I have had dance practice nearly every day this week for my upcoming assessment tomorrow morning. It probably doesn't cut it because dance is just ... dance to most of you; but when it becomes a portion of your life, you just don't cut it out as if it were nothing.
P.P.P.S. Knowing me, I have a long line of excuses, here's another: I have been buried alive under assessments & work is demanding me to do shifts on the ONLY days I have off to study. So my blog, I'm afraid to say, has been the last thing on my mind.
